TWO STEPS OF ANCIENT TRIANGLE
SARDES AND PERGAMON
You'll arrive first to the ancient kingdom of Lydia and the capital city of Sardis. It was the mainstay of both advanced industrial and manufacturing industries. Excavations have included Temples to Diana, Artemis and Cybele and the earliest recorded synagogue complete with stunning floor mosaics and inscriptions. Many Lydian tombs have also been found there.
Then ,you’ll have delicious Lunch (EXTRA) in Pergamon ,before you visit one of the finest archaeological sites in Turkey. The ancient Greek city of Pergamon is situated to the north and west of Bergama and was at one time, the capital of the Roman province of Asia. The Acropolis is divided into the Upper and Lower Acropolis and still contains the remains of many buildings. In the Upper Acropolis there is the Library of Pergamon, one of the most important libraries in the ancient world, the Theatre, the steepest in Anatolia, the Temple of Dionysus, the Upper Agora and Roman Baths complex. In the Lower Acropolis, you will see Gymnasiums, the Temple of Demeter, the House of Attalus and the Lower Agora.
Then you will visit the Medical Center of the ancient world -- the Asclepion .The Asclepion or the Sanctuary of Asclepius, which was the first phsychological health centre complete with sacred spring.
Finally you’ll visit the ‘’Red Basilica’’ in Bergama. The "Red Basilica", also called variously the Red Hall and Red Courtyard, is a monumental ruined temple in the ancient city of Pergamon, now Bergama,in western Turkey. It is one of the largest Roman structures still surviving in the ancient Greek world.
Although the building itself is of an immense size, it was only one part of a much larger sacred complex, surrounded by high walls, that dwarfed even the colossal Temple of Jupiter in Baalbek. Today the ruins of the main temple and one of the side rotundas can be visited, while the other side rotunda is still in use as a small mosque
End of the day ,you arrive to Kuşadası.
